Guitar Hero II is Awesome
I feel sad that Jason is posting all by his lonesome, so here is a quick rundown of video game events in my world:
Guitar Hero 2 came out and it is pretty awesome. The best part is a super fun multiplayer mode where the two players can play at different difficulty settings. Thus the person who owns the game and can play on the hard or expert difficulty settings can do that while playing with their friend who hasn’t played it much before can play on easy or medium. When doing this co-op mode one player does lead guitar and the other player does bass or rhythm guitar depending on the song. My favorite songs they chose to include are the Strongbad Trogdor song, the new Freezepop song they created for the game, and Spinal Tap’s “Tonight I’m going to love you Tonight.”
The Wii is out as of this morning and many of my friends have it. I think I’m going to wait till classes end mid December, as I really don’t have time to play it much before then.
I’ve spent way too much time this semester playing Defense of the Ancients, or DotA as the leet speaking h4xors call it, which is a pretty fun Warcraft 3 mod. Mod isn’t even really the right word as the end result is a game built with the Warcraft 3 engine but really is not an RTS at all. I usually can get 5 or 6 friends in the area together for a game, but every now and then I end up in a game with craven Internet players on BattleNet. This always end up being kind of a traumatizing experience, the quantity of homophobic/bigoted/ultra-racist slurs one exposes one’s self to in the games is pretty awful. It is slightly better than Xbox live where you actually hear these degenerate’s voices but it is still pretty bad.

Yay for Tony posting! Now I am less lonely.
I am, however, mad jealous, as I have no Guitar Hero games at all (yet). Also, I think I will wait until I have a bunch more money to get a Wii, but I do really like the idea of having one the more I hear about it. (Not to mention that then I could leave my Gamecube in the Boston area and never have to transport it again…)
