Short Game Review: Guitar Hero II
Just beat this last night with Angel and Keith on “medium” difficulty. As if the well-executed concept of rocking out weren’t enough, I noticed for the first time that the attention to detail is absolutely terrific. I’d noticed the well-designed menus, sure, but the background of the Grim Reaper fighting a giant squid? The vaporized drummer after you play a Spinal Tap song? And let’s not forget the fact that you have to agree three times to perform an encore at the end of the game because they want you to be really sure you’re ready to play “Freebird” to an audience of druids holding lighters over their heads. Man, this game rocked my socks off, laundered them, and rocked them again. I had to leave it with Angel and Keith so I don’t get tempted to play it constantly until I finish my exams.
