Deadliest Documentary Alive

It’s been awhile since we checked in on Count Danté, Deadliest Man Alive. When we last spoke of him, it was to relate his history, following the creation of an utterly unauthorized desktop wallpaper (which again has reclaimed its rightful place on my own LCD). Now there is again word of the good Count, indicating trouble with the Black Dragon Fighting Society.

Tony alerted me to news that a documentarian is being sued by the Black Dragon Fighting Society for infringing upon copyrights. This seems like a very un-warrior-like tactic. I should think that the warrior’s code says: If a man steals your soul with a camera, you must tear out his heart with your hand.

But no. This sensei goes to court—and for what again? Oh yes, to punish someone for making a non-fiction work about a person who really existed. I’m no legal expert but, well, that’s actually legal. Perhaps someone should slip the Black Dragon Fighting Society a copy of Roger & Me or Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism. Or, you know, just about any other documentary about real people, ever. Should’ve stuck with the heart-ripping, sensei. (That’s friendly advice, by the way. Please don’t sue me for libel.)

Aside: I’m tempted to add a “Count Danté” tag to this site. If only he came up in the news more often.

It is a strange world we live in. When people have little to do, it seems they sue.
